What happens during an annual hot tub or swim spa service?

See what an annual hot tub or swim spa service can include, how to prepare for an engineer's visit and when a repair needs a separate assessment.

Looking after the water condition and chemistry is part of owning a hot tub or swim spa. An annual service gives the equipment and the equipment shell and fittings/furnishings a thorough inspection and deeper clean than routine owner care. It is also an opportunity for an expert eye to spot and raise any concerns before they become inconvenient and sometimes costly faults and repairs.

Cleaning beyond the visible surfaces

An annual visit includes a system pipe flush, draining the water, cleaning accessible jets with a deep clean and disinfection of the equipment shell. The Northumbria Hot Tubs Ltd annual servicing page outlines its current service inclusions, including a refill with clean water and advice on caring for the equipment and water conditioning afterwards. The scope of work specifically depends on the equipment and its age and condition.

Checking how the equipment works

Hot tub and swim spa equipment servicing is a chance to inspect pipework, water and air diverters, jets, waterfalls and spouts, check mechanical and electrical devices, and function-test items such as pumps, heaters, blowers and ozonators. A visible problem does not always reveal its cause: for example, poor jet performance might involve settings, water flow or equipment and devices that need repair or replacing.

Servicing whether annual or through one of our bespoke service plan proposals and a repair appointment serve different purposes. At Northumbria Hot Tubs Ltd our published annual service is intended for a fully functioning hot tub or swim spa; repairs are priced separately. If your equipment is leaking, suffers from nuisance electrical trips or shows a persistent or intermittent error, mention it when you enquire about servicing so any future visit can be planned appropriately to enable our engineer to be efficient with their time to fulfil other diary appointments that day. You can read hear about our hot tub repair appointments or call us on 07971410167 to discuss your requirements or equipment concerns.

How to prepare for the visit

The Engineer will require access inside of the equipment side panels where the devices, pipework and operating systems are found, if decking surrounds the equipment partially or fully, the engineer will not have the adequate access required to carry out important tasks and tests, check whether it needs to be removed beforehand or arrange to have it removed in advance of a scheduled visit to avoid unnecessary travel and wasted engineer time (chargeable). Northumbria Hot Tubs Ltd also asks for a clear route to and from the work area with access to a working water source and a working/safe electrical outdoor socket nearby. If you have a larger hot tub or swim spa, provide details when booking so the scope of work and task timescales can be discussed in advance.

For an annual service or any servicing request in Northumberland or in any part of the North East and English/Scottish Borders, contact Northumbria Hot Tubs Ltd, or call us on 07971410167. Include the make, model and approximate size of the tub, number of filters and anything you have noticed since the last service. Please ensure there is an adequate level of water in the equipment, preferably heated above a minimum of 25 degrees. Any high level of water contamination should be highlighted to the engineer ahead of the appointment as this will lengthen the appointment time required.
